HOW IT ALL BEGAN

The fundraiser started as “The Running Nun” by Daughter of Charity, Sister Liz Sjoberg in 2018 when she signed up for the Chick-fil-A Half Marathon. Her goal was to raise funds and brand awareness for Proyecto Juan Diego. Her fundraiser generated quite the buzz among her friends and family throughout social media and at the race. Every year since, we host this amazing fundraiser and the response from the community just keeps on surprising us!

In 2021, Sister Liz was joined by a second Daughter of Charity—Sister Sharon Horace and post-postulant, Alexandra Vizard. Hence the name, “Sisters on the Run!”. The fundraiser has grown to a group of 15 runners/fundraisers all running for a single cause—to raise funds Proyecto Juan Diego and increase brand awareness all across the Rio Grande Valley. We’d love to continue growing this fundraiser—but know we can’t do it without the help from people like you. Your support in this year’s Sisters on the Run! will help us grow the fundraiser even more!
