OUR STORY
Proyecto Juan Diego (PJD) is a non-profit organization founded in 2003 by Daughter of Charity Sister Phylis Peters. The purpose was and continues to be, to address the multiple problems or deficiencies that afflict low-income families, especially Spanish-speaking families, who live in one of the largest and most neglected communities in the United States: the Cameron Park Colonia.
Through the years, and due to a great need in our region for our services, PJD has not only served the Cameron Park community but also serves people from other low-income communities, who like Cameron Park, face multiple shortages in the city of Brownsville, Texas, and surrounding areas.
Our services have been designed to focus on helping each family member: Family Dynamics, Education, Health Care, Immigration Services, and Civic Engagement.
